It was, simply put, a magnificent victory for Riesling this Sunday in the Grand Prix at the CSI-4* in Mons.
Upon returning to Paris, where Gregory had jumped in the Grand Prix the night before, Gregory was ready to go at the GP Montois with Riesling. The bars were high and the width of the oxers impressive but it was without any difficulty at all that Riesling got down to business in the first round, jumping clear to qualify as the last and final horse in the jump off. As the only Belgian entry qualified and going in last position, just behind his friend Steve Guerdat and his idol, John Whitaker, Gregory knew what he had to do… take all the risks (especially given that the time realized by these two aforementioned riders was really fast) and to jump clear. Riesling played the game perfectly according to Gregory’s directions and the pair finished ahead of John Whitaker by hundredths of a second to take the win the Grand Prix of the 2nd edition of this magnificent CSI-4* of Mons.
