In the exciting GP of La Baule where 12 couples out of 50 finished their course fault free, only two Belgian pairs earned a right to participate in the jump off: Gregory Wathelet and Cadjanine and Philippe LeJeune with Vigo d’Arsouilles. After a clear jump off round, Gregory took over the provisional lead in the class in 37.61 seconds before being caught by Ben Maher with Tripple X who finished in 36.66 seconds…. This was short-lived, however, given that Philippe LeJeune, our world champion, still had a shot at the win and completed the course in 36.46 seconds, beating Ben Maher. Finally the victory came to Nick Skelton who sealed the deal with, in front of an amazed public, a remarkable demonstration of speed with his horse Carlo, was able to stop the clock at 35.36 seconds. Therefore it was a very nice 4th place finish overall for Gregory and Cadjanine who stayed keenly competitive the entire weekend at La Baule.
